For to the first episode of Golden Shower: "Island," the first solo exhibition of China-born, London-based artist Haoqi Xiong (1997), who is currently a graduate student in painting at the RCA.

Haoqi Xiong's work is about self-identification, not as a result but as a process developed in his daily cultural life. The main subject of her research is Western mythological narrative, seen from the outside perspective of those who did not grow up in it. The act of painting thus allows the artist to reinterpret the symbols and images of Western culture through dynamic corrections, reflecting on her own understanding of reality and subjective feedback.

Stripping and reorganizing images also becomes a process of looking back at that particular background. Through the weaving of Xiong's personal practice, original references take on a new direction through the juxtaposition of symbols with other elements.
