Gregory Halpern + Rebecca Harper - Omaha Sketchbook + Concrete Shadows
Gregory Halpern 'Omaha Sketchbook' - For the last fifteen years, Halpern has been photographing in Omaha, Nebraska, steadily compiling a lyrical response to the American Heartland. 'Omaha Sketchbook', Halpern's latest book, is a meditation on America, on the men and boys who inhabit it, and on the mechanics of aggression, inadequacy, and power.
Halpern will also be discussing the new book at the Tate Modern on the 16 September.
Rebecca Harper 'Concrete Shadows' - The show includes five large-scale paintings all produced in 2019. These new works build and expand on themes that Harper has explored throughout her career, particularly that of displacement and nostalgia. The subjects of her recent paintings are situated in what Harper describes as ‘middling space’: camping, tree climbing or mid-road trip.
