Jerwood Space present BXBY

To coincide with summer solstice, the longest day of the year, Soojin Chang has devised a durational performance in collaboration with artist, DJ, sage and Daoist practitioner Georgie (Rei-n) Lo which responds to themes of land relations, object/subject relations, psychogeography, animist methodology, ritual as technology, and the human-animal in BXBY, their commission for the Jerwood/FVU Awards 2022.

The ritual is a performance of belonging that speaks through technosomatic language to ask land gods for partnership in land redistribution. The artists greet the space of the gallery as a being. They perform a continuous rebalancing exchange of power forces to acknowledge, dissolve, and release the oppression of objecthood through trans-animist methodology.
