Mid-Late C20th - Sculpture

Lynn Chadwick - Subliminal Influences

Pangolin Directors Claude Koenig and Rungwe Kingdon, had a long-standing working relationship and friendship with Lynn Chadwick, spent time with him both at home and in his studio, which they remarked was often empty and unoccupied by visual influences. Rather his axis of reference came from a wide range of sources - from ancient to contemporary art, nature to science, and street fashion to architecture.

Chadwick is a leading figure in the history of British and European sculpture in the mid and late 20th century. Though generally misunderstood as not being as in touch with the world as some of his contemporaries, this exhibition will expose how many of the major events of the 20th century affected and were explored by Chadwick. Through the six decades of his career, Chadwick would often change and adapt his work. The colour and tone, line and
texture of his work seem to be an individual response to the zeitgeist of the time.
