Metro Pictures present Isaac Julien - Lessons of the Hour

A special full-length presentation of Isaac Julien’s film Lessons of the Hour will take place on the Piccadilly Lights screen today at 7pm. Lessons of the Hour [Doppelgänger] has been uniquely constructed for the nearly 800-square-meter landmark screen. The screening will include a synchronised audio experience accessible through a QR code.

Lessons of the Hour is a poetic meditation on the life and times of Frederick Douglass, the ten-screen film installation proposes a contemplative journey into Douglass' zeitgeist and its relationship to contemporaneity. The film includes excerpts of Douglass' most arresting speeches and allusions to his private and public milieus.

Additionally, the Lessons of the Hour augmented reality platform is already available, offering a view into the installed piece and access to a new documentary, produced by Shifting Vision, via your smartphone.
