Early C20th - Painting

Sydney, Hilda & Richard Carline - Those Remarkable Carlines

Wed-Sun: 10-4pm

An exhibition celebrating the work of the talented Carline siblings. Sydney, Hilda and Richard Carline were talented artist siblings who lived and worked in Hampstead. During the interwar years their family home at 47 Downshire Hill became a nexus for a glamorous artistic social group.

Bringing together works from across the country, private collections, and a commision by Josie and Madeline Hunter, granddaughters of Richard Carline, this exhibition will consider how they each approached capturing people and places in paint.

In collaboration with Dr Johnathan Black and Prof Fran Lloyd of Kingston University, with thanks to Hermione Carline.
