Wellington, Waterloo and the Defeat of Napoleon

Featuring unusual and rarely seen objects, including the sword Wellington carried during the battle and the hurriedly written orders he issued throughout the day, the exhibition will also display objects related to Napoleon, including his death mask and a display of French standards, eagles and one of his swords taken from his carriage after the battle. Also included in the exhibition are the legendary, original ‘Wellington Boots.’

Wellington, Waterloo and the Defeat of Napoleon (1 April 2020 – 7 February 2021) will also show how the First Duke was, and continues to be, celebrated in the popular imagination, through contemporary and modern memorabilia.
