Wickerham & Lomax - Culture's Panic Room

CULTURE’S PANIC ROOM is a immersive site-specific commission by American artist duo Wickerham & Lomax unveiled to the public during Frieze London.

Situated in the hotel's BASEMENT which was originally conceived as a nightclub, the artists playfully meditate upon questions regarding luxury, presence, individuation, and access. Drawing inspiration from pop culture, fashion, cinema and their personal queer experience, the artists will transform the space into a highly reflective and sensory experience imitating a panic room with CGI mapped characters as tropes surrounding: the heist, the encounter, the intruder and the stranger as subjects of imagined realities.

The exhibition will also feature a charitable component with a charity box situated in the middle of the exhibition space with all proceeds going to Ballet After Dark, an organisation based in Baltimore, MD, that assists sexual trauma survivors with their recovery through dance.
